Wears - A white kimono (or whatever a guy's outfit is called) with small red flowery-looking designs on the sleeves. Plus a set of armor that has spikey things, a yellow sash to tuck his swords into, and the most noticeable...his fluffy thing on his right shoulder. Fans suspect it to be a tail or some kind of boa. Either way, its something we fans have adjusted to throughout the series.

Upon the first time I saw Sesshomaru in the episode "Tetsusaiga and Tenseiga", I thought, "Okay, this guy already looks a bit weird...". It was soon after that I discovered that he was the older and half brother to InuYasha, the character I favored the most at that time. Sesshomaru came across to me as girly, arrogant, and a waste of time. All in all, I didn't really like him until later.

 

 

Granted, I pretty much gave Sesshomaru a low score in the first episode I saw him in, but I did give him a few points in the next one, "The True Owner of the Great Sword". In this episode, Sesshomaru is attacked by InuYasha's Wind Scar, and the only reason he survives is because of his Tenseiga that protected him. But more importantly, while Sesshomaru is recovering from his injuries, a little human girl left mute by devastation named, Rin approaches the youkai in a generous manner by offering him food. Sesshomaru of course tells her to beat it, but she continuously comes back, that is until she gets killed by pack of wolves. Recognizing her scent, Sesshomaru finds the girl laying in the road dead, and would normally turn and walk away, but when his Tenseiga began to pulsate, he used it on her, and she was brought to life again. So by this act of amazing mercy, Sesshomaru allows Rin to follow him, and I began to like him a little more!

 

 

Now that I liked him a little better as the series progressed, having Rin by his side, and slowly chipping away at his cold heart, Sesshomaru really captured my attention in the episode "InuYasha's Soul Devoured". Up to this point in the series, everyone knows that the two brother's despise eachother, but for the first time, we get the idea that Sesshomaru does care a tiny bit for InuYasha. Upon learning of his brother's demon transformation when placed in a desperate situation, the youkai wanted to witness it again for himself, and by using the Toukijin to stave off InuYasha's impulsive actions, Sesshomaru tells Kagome that the transformation can be reversed by using Tetsusaiga. (The Tetsusaiga, InuYasha's sword is what supresses InuYasha's demon blood) Miroku then approaches Sesshomaru and demands a reason for his merciful actions. Sesshomaru simply replies that he will kill InuYasha, but not at a time when he is vulnerable and doesn't know himself. So with that, he just walks off back to Rin and Jaken, and off they go into the wild blue yonder! ^_^

 

Yes, Sesshomaru is a pain in the rear end a lot, avoids being cute much to his fans' displeasure, and continues being arrogant, but some people fail to notice his admirable features. I'll explain in a "numeric fashion".

 

1.) Despite his apparent hatred for humans, he has yet to kill a major character. He had the chance to leave Rin, but he saved her, though he claimed he was "testing the Tenseiga", we all know he did it out of the faint goodness of his heart! ^_^

 

2.) He shows compassion for InuYasha and his troop in every encounter, despite wanting InuYasha dead, he leaves the others out of the confrontation.

 

3.) The hair! We love that hair! It's so long, silvery, and shiny! Gimme!

 

4.) Gotta love those spiffy demon markings on his face and arms!

 

5.) Can I just say, God bless David Kaye!! Such a superbly deep voice that's even a little bit seductive, but still strong enough to scare away the weak hearted. Rar! *drools*

 

6.) He's so arrogant and overly confident that he can actually back it up. He fights so well, and with one arm too, it even surprises me! After all, Sesshomaru does mean "the killing perfection", so hey! It fits!

 

7.) Though he doesn't show it, Sesshomaru does care about the well-being of the company whom he travels with. Jaken, as annoying as he is, is still alive and under Sesshomaru's command. Rin, though never forced to fight in any way, tends to be captured or is put in a tough situation, but Sesshomaru always rescues her. That's gotta say somethin' about him that sends off a good vibe!

 

"Know your place in the world. A half-demon should act like one...On your knees!"

 

"All that for a mere memory and a dead mortal girl? If I knew that's what it took to make you fight, I would have killed her sooner."

 

Kagome - Don't come any nearer!

 

Sesshomaru - If you wish him to stop, use Tetsusaiga to reverse the transformation.

 

Kagome - *thinking* He's...not going to kill InuYasha?

 

Miroku - Sesshomaru! We all know fully well you despise InuYasha. Why did you stop at that? I find it hard to believe you've actually developed feelings for your brother!

 

Sesshomaru - I will slay him...eventually. Why kill him now when he doesn't know himself? There would be no point. *walks off*

 

"Your wrist or the sword? Which will be first to drop?"

 

"This girl. You protect her...indulge her...even seem to love her."

 

Rin - *offers Sesshomaru food* Un!

 

Sesshomaru - I told you already, I don't need anything from you. *Rin sighs and begins to get up* Where did you get those bruises? *Rin looks surprised* You don't have to tell me if you don't want to...*Rin goes silent, but then starts giggling happily* Why are you smiling like that? I don't care, I'm just curious.

 

"Your stupidity knows no bounds. Run and hide while you still can, for that, and only that is the only choice left to you. Unless you'd rather stand up and face your death, at least you would die with honor."

 

"You forget your station...worthless half - breed!"

 

"This plan is beneath me. Should it fail, Jaken, you will die."

 

"How can you think with your dirty blood that you are my equal?!"

 

"Tenseiga, you compelled me to save a human life today..."

 

"InuYasha...to think that he made me, Sesshomaru, tremble with fear for even a moment. InuYasha...in that instant..."

 

" *referring to Kikyou* I do not want to know what your connection with that woman was. But Naraku was the one who killed Kikyou."

 

Kagome - *gasps* InuYasha!! *begins to run, but pulls the Tetsusaiga out of the stone by accident* Whoops...uh oh!

 

Sesshomaru - *dumbfounded silence as he stares at her*

 

InuYasha - Don't look at her, look at me! *swipes at Sesshomaru as he gets away*

 

Kagome - Huh...? AH!

 

Sesshomaru - *glares down at Kagome* What are you and how did you draw the sword? *eyes shift from Tetsusaiga to Kagome menacingly*

 

I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to pairing Sesshomaru with another chik in the InuYasha universe, but I do however hold opinions over each one.

 

Sesshomaru & Kikyou - My favorite couple besides InuKag, and a total surprise to many people who know me. For a long time, I hated Kikyou, but mainly because she got in the way for InuYasha and Kagome, however when I paired Sess with her, it clicked. They balance well since Sesshomaru is cold hearted, and Kikyou is warm hearted. Kikyou loves children, which would be perfect because of Rin, and Sesshomaru, though he is a big tough guy who is more than capable of protecting Rin, he lacks "motherly skills", therefore Kikyou fits.

 

Sesshomaru & Kagome - The only way I like this pairing is if and only if InuYasha is totally out of the picture, not when he chooses Kikyou over Kagome. My ideal vision of how Sesshomaru and Kagome would come together is if InuYasha tragically died, Kagome is devastated, and Sesshomaru tries to console her through the loss, thus making them fall in love. Somehow, I really do enjoy them together though, Sess needing a never-ending joy always at his side, and Kagome can definately deliver that!

 

Sesshomaru & Rin - They are cute together, but...the fact that he has practically raised her hinders my fondness of the couple. However, if Rin was older, then it would be all right in my eyes, and it would be a very sweet relationship. The way he continuously saves her shows clearly that he does love her in one way or another, and that is something you need to build a relationship on. Rin is bouncy and full of life, Sesshomaru is protective and devoted, so hey, I like it!

 

Sesshomaru & Kagura - I never hated Kagura, I don't know why, but I really like her character. She wants freedom of Naraku's control so she can live a normal life, and the fact that she approached Sesshomaru for help in defeating Naraku is bravery in itself. Sesshomaru could have easily killed her, but he stayed his hand and let her confer with him. Kagura is a very beautiful character, strong, and determined, one that could be a rebel in the anime, pulling away from Naraku to join forces with InuYasha and company, but in my opinion, I think she will go to Sesshomaru first. Though he denied her pleas for help in killing Naraku, he has never killed her like he's claimed he would one day, and he seems to show interest in her. How she would get along with Rin though is a bit of a question mark...
